Sydney’s harbour is the perfect backdrop for a healthy break. Start your day with an oceanside yoga class. Yoga by the sea offers classes at Bondi, Tamarama or Bronte beaches. Explore the city and shores from the water with a kayak harbour tour. Ozpaddle provides the gear and lessons.

Interested in covering a bit more water with a little less effort? Why not skip that afternoon conference and have a go on your own yacht. EastSail, in Rushcutter’s Bay, offers yacht hire with bareboat and skippered options.

Back on terra firma, the Royal Botanic Gardens are a great place to stretch your legs. A visit to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair is a must for great views of the harbour and Opera House. The newly created Barangaroo precinct is another interesting option for walking or running – although the array of tempting outdoor eateries lining the walkways are likely to undo some of your good work.

For a different perspective, take the ferry to Cremorne Point for a quiet walk around the point’s pretty gardens with lovely views all around the harbour.

Need a moment of Zen? The Chinese Garden of Friendship on the edge of Darling Harbour is a welcome oasis. Waterfalls, pagodas, koi-filled lakes and bonsai plants offer a calming sanctuary from life’s worries.
