Set in Darwin, this is a story about the relationship between teenagers Jono and Ana. Jono is a Vietnamese Australian who has recovered from depression due to the breakdown of his family and a break-up with his girlfriend. Ana is an Iranian refugee whose family has escaped persecution and who lives in Wickham Point Detention Centre, awaiting asylum in Australia.

Despite their different backgrounds, the pair forms  an instant connection through a shared passion for music and a mutual interest in each other’s lives. However, Jono’s father, Kenny, a guard at Wickham Point, discourages the relationship and questions the motives of Ana and other asylum seekers.
