Parallel Report to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

In December 2025, the Human Rights and Indigenous Issues Committees contributed to a submission to the Law Council to inform its submission to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in relation to the Australian Government’s Sixth Periodic Report under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (‘ICESCR’).

The submission contained brief updates on economic, social and cultural rights issues specific to NSW, including progress on incorporation of the ICESCR into NSW domestic law; economic, social and cultural rights policies relating to Indigenous peoples; modern slavery; and reform of anti-discrimination legislation in NSW.
