While some workplaces offer sleep pods for tired and overworked staff, inventors are finding new ways to empower individuals to boost their own sleep quality with white noise.

According to reports in Agence France-Presse (AFP), on show at this year’s largest electronics trade fair in Europe was a range of white noise “sleep tech” gadgets. Among them was a SmartSleep headband that emits a white noise generator to improve sleep cycles. The soft headband positions sensors around the skull and feeds data to an app on a smartphone where the information is analysed and tips are offered to improve a person’s sleep cycles.
