News Corp journalist Cindy Wockner moved to Bali soon after Australians started making news there with the 2002 bombings. Then Schapelle Corby was arrested in 2004 for importing 4.2 kilos of cannabis and, the next year, nine Australians were arrested attempting to take 8.3 kilos of heroin out of Indonesia.

Wockner admits in this moving book that she didn’t really like drug ringleaders Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan when she first met them in Denpasar police headquarters. Both were surly and “full of swagger and bravado and smart-alec quips, full of everything except contrition” and Sukumaran claimed he had been wrongly arrested.
