Richard Scruby SC, a barrister with over twenty years of experience, has been appointed to the Supreme Court of NSW. 

Scruby started his career in 1999 as an associate to Justice Ian Callinan in the High Court of Australia. In 2002, he became a member of the NSW Bar, and two years later joined Tenth Floor Wentworth Selborne Chambers, appointed Senior Counsel in 2017. 

Scruby showcased his knowledge across a broad range of areas, including corporations, commercial, equity, insolvency and taxation, with articles written for the Australian Bar Review and Australian Law Journal.  

NSW Attorney General, Michael Daley, congratulated Scruby, saying his appointment “will enhance the administration of justice and strengthen the bench’s ability to serve the community”. 

“Mr Scruby comes to the bench with 24 years’ experience at the NSW Bar. He is recognised as a leading litigation barrister and has significant experience across a broad range of areas including significant commercial and corporate matters.” 

He will be sworn in on September 3.
