For in-house lawyer Jason McLennan, law and football make for a compelling match.

Even though he grew up in AFL heartland, Jason McLennan’s mother left him with little choice but to satiate his early sporting appetite playing tennis and basketball for his Adelaide school.

When he finally left home, however, McLennan swiftly laced up the boots and stalked the Sherrin on ovals wherever he lived – Adelaide, Lismore, London and, finally, Sydney. He played full-back for the 1997 double premiership-winning Sydney University AFL Club, and full-forward and half-back flank respectively as the first grade team came runners-up in the following two seasons.
