The President of the NSW Court of Appeal, the Honourable Justice Julie Ward, will be the keynote speaker at a special Law Society event for Continuing Professional Development [CPD] next month.
Held in partnership with the North Metropolitan Law Society, CPD with a View on Tuesday 26 August at Miramere Gardens in Terrey Hills, will feature several sessions canvassing ethics, risk management, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing and succession planning.
Justice Ward will deliver a keynote address at the dinner, which will conclude the day of professional development.
The event is tailored for solicitors working across all areas of legal practice and offers six CPD units.
Law Society President Jennifer Ball will be speaking at the event, alongside the President of the North Metropolitan Law Society, Sarah Newman, productivity expert Mario Halouvas and Jennifer McMillan, the Manager of Practice Support Services at Lawcover.
AUSTRAC’s Manager of Enforcement, Joshua Barr, will deliver a session on how practitioners can start preparing for Tranche 2 of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing reforms, due to come into effect in July 2026.
Jade Tyrrell, Senior Associate at Johnson Winter Slattery and a Law Society Councillor, will deliver a session on AI and decoding recent practice notes published by the courts.
