A new study finds that just thinking about your mobile causes a drop in mental ability.

Perhaps Steven Jobs is having a last laugh. A team of researchers have found that the presence of a smartphone leads to a significant reduction in cognitive capacity – even if the phone is switched off.

The team, from the University of Texas at Austin, wanted to measure how smartphones affected the ability to complete tasks. Their results won’t impress phone addicts.
