As Christmas approaches, many Australian lawyers are preparing to jet away to tropical destinations or beachside locations.

MinterEllison paralegal John Cantor, however, has chosen to put summer on ice and spend his New Year in a very different environment.

The 32-year-old is preparing to take a 1600-kilometre journey across Arctic Alaska’s Brooks Range during winter using only cross-country skis. Cantor and his expedition partner, filmmaker Jesse Purcell, will live on butter, olive oil, freeze-dried meals, chocolate, beef jerky and nuts for the two-month journey.
