The Law Society of NSW’s member magazine has been praised for an innovative cover design at the recent Mumbrella Publish Awards.

The cover of LSJ’s August “Blakout Edition”, which was a special issue featuring all-Indigenous stories and interviews, received a Highly Commended mention in the category for Magazine Cover of the Year. The gatefold cover of the July 2021 edition, designed by LSJ Art Director Alys Martin, featured work by artist and Gudanji/Wakaja woman Ryhia Dank which responded to the the NAIDOC 2021 theme, “Heal Country”.

The annual Mumbrella Publish Awards celebrate the best of magazines, newspapers, websites and multi-media content in the Australian publishing industry. LSJ was nominated in two other categories – Member Magazine of the Year and Special Edition of the Year – and has won the former for four years in a row previously. On reflection, the team supposed it was probably time to give other entrants a go.
