Sydney barrister Robert Hollo SC and Newcastle Public Defender Peter Krisenthal have been named as new Judges of the District Court of NSW.
Hollo was appointed as a barrister 30 years ago and took silk in 2011. His clients have included major retail and investment banks, multi-national corporations, insurers and regulators. Based at 6 Selborne Wentworth Chambers, Hollo’s work has covered a wide range of commercial and civil law, including company law and insolvency, banking and finance and property disputes.
Hollo also sits on the Legal Services Council’s Admissions Committee and chaired the Bar’s Education Committee.

For more than a decade, Krisenthal has been a Public Defender based in Newcastle, where he has worked on complex criminal jury trials and appeals. Prior to becoming legally qualified in 1997, he worked as a psychiatric nurse and probation and parole officer.
He also worked with Legal Aid, before becoming a barrister in 2009.
Attorney General Michael Daley says both men have made outstanding contributions to the law and the administration of justice in NSW. “Their appointments will strengthen the Court’s capacity to deliver timely and fair justice to the people of this state,” he says.
“They are highly respected for their skill, integrity and service. I congratulate them on their appointments and wish them well in this next chapter of their careers.”
