- The issue of interoperability in eConveyancing is complex and the way ahead unclear.
- The potential benefits of eConveyancing may not be realised and some costs may not be fully accounted for.
- All options for the future should be carefully considered.
In December 2025, the Australian Registrars’ Electronic Conveyancing Council (‘ARNECC’) released two reports (the Functional Requirements Review (‘Functional Report’) and Economic analysis of reform options for the eConveyancing market (‘Economic Report’)) as part of its process to find a solution to the many issues surrounding the introduction of interoperability into the eConveyancing market and ARNECC’s commitment to competition.
These were only two of five reports being undertaken towards the end of 2025, three by ARNECC and one each by the Commonwealth and New South Wales Parliaments. They followed many other reports on eConveyancing by various NSW government and other bodies.
