For many lawyers, being able to concentrate is key for many aspects of work. And although the new wave of collaborative workspaces goes some way to addressing these needs – with cozy corners and private workstation areas – thriving in an open-plan environment might mean making changes in personal and group behaviour.
One of the first things you can do to help yourself is work out how you work best. For some people, noise works. Have you ever been on an aeroplane and literally fired through work in that 90 minutes in the sky? If that’s you, then open plan might not be a problem.
For others, the “silence is golden” rule is more applicable.
